Creativity and Consciousness

Over the summer, Cedar Crest Books will publish the best book ever written on creativity and consciousness. It will explain in clear and concise language what consciousness is and its role in creativity. The book will also explain where ideas come from and how to improve the frequency and quality of your ideas. Many books boast that they will do this, but when you sit down and read the book, it’s all fluff, pretence and nonsense. We are not boasting. We are stating facts.  Please look for our book right here this summer. Until then, a couple of books we recommend to, at least, get you started on your journey are:

Catching the Big Fish: Meditation, Consciousness, and Creativity By David Lynch

Internationally acclaimed filmmaker David Lynch provides a rare widow into his methods as an artist, his personal working style, and the immense creative benefits he has experienced from the practice of meditation. Lynch describes the experience of “diving within” and “catching” ideas like fish—and then preparing them for television or movie screens, and other mediums in which he works, such as painting, music, and design. Lynch writes for the first time about his more than three decades commitment to Transcendental Meditation and the difference it has made in his creative process.

The Physiology of Consciousness Dr. Robert Keith Wallace, PhD

Dr. Wallace assesses the current health care crisis in the United States, including the rise of stress-related disease, and the side-effects and spiraling costs of modern medicine. These problems will only worsen, Dr. Wallace points out, if addressed merely by making administrative changes in the health care system.

Dr. Wallace presents a new paradigm based on the idea that the basis and source of the manifest “physiology of matter” is an un-manifest “physiology of consciousness.” Only by understanding and directly experiencing this all-pervading level of abstract intelligence can we create true health.
